Cardiologist

Dr Evangelos Oikonomou graduated from Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece in 2003. He has been qualified as a Cardiologist physician in 2014. Since then, he is working as an Academic fellow and later as a consultant cardiologist up to 2020 in the 1^st Department of Cardiology of the NKUA at the General Hospital of Athens “Ippokratio”. From 2020 up to date he is working as a consultant cardiologist in the 3^rd Department of Cardiology of the NKUA at the General Hospital of Chest Diseases of Athens “Sotiria”. He is certified from the European Society of Cardiologists in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. He has been trained in Cardiac MRI in University Hospital of Leuven, Belgium and he has been certified in cardiac MRI from the European Society of Cardiology.

            His research interest focuses on general cardiology, on the mechanisms of atherosclerosis and heart failure and on the cardiovascular epidemiology. He has contributed to several research projects and epidemiology studies. He has more than 270 scientific publications in international scientific journals in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
